Seat Cupra remapping at Tuning Emporium

The 2.0 TFSI engine used across the VAG group has some huge gains to be had from it with just a stage 1 remap, special mention must be to the boost level though, you can’t raise too much with these turbo’s.

As used in the Audi S3, Skoda VRS Octavia, Seat Atica to name a few, gains up to 350bhp with a stage 1 remap are not uncommon.

These engines have massive tuning potential with corect supporting mods, 440bhp, with intercooler upgrade, straight through exhaust system and divertor valve plus a few other mods 🙂

Tuning Emporium can also tune the DSG gearbox at the sametime, to ensure shift times are reduced.  Add to this combination of a pop and bang function incorporated into the remap aswell, and you will have a very rewarding drive in your Seat thereafter 🙂

What is remapping?

Engine remapping has become increasingly popular in recent years, as drivers become more familiar with the little blackbox that control their cars vital functions, and more aware of the opportunities to ‘tweak’ the settings.

The process used to be called chipping, as it literally meant swapping a microchip in your car’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU) with a modified version. Nowadays the black art has advanced to the point where home-brewed engine remapping software is available to download from various internet groups for brave and/or tech-savvy home-tuners who like to experiment. We’d never recommend that route, as unsurprisingly there’s a significant risk of causing expensive engine damage if a remap is not done properly.

So for most people an engine remap involves a trip to a local specialist Like Tuning Emporium, where we  can overwrite your factory engine settings via a laptop, directly into your car’s OBD port, or we can tune your ecu on the bench.

There are two primary reasons for wanting a remap, and they’re called power and torque. When your car left the factory there’s a very good chance its performance was deliberately muted in order to meet product planning objectives or economy and efficiency targets.

These days the power and performance of most cars is limited, not by any particular mechanical factor, but by the software running in the engine control unit (ECU).

Computer algorithms running behind the scenes while you’re driving a modern car affect all sorts of parameters, such as ignition timing, air/fuel ratio and turbocharging boost pressure.

So if you want greater performance and pulling power from your car, or alternatively if you’re seeking mpg improvements, the first place to look is the little black box under the bonnet. Here at Tuning Emporium, we receive plenty of emails asking advice about ECU software changes, and we’ve compiled this guide to explore the pros, cons and costs.

Chipping turbodiesel engines can increase economy by seven to 10 per cent, because it adds torque lower down the rev range. This means the engine doesn’t have to work as hard as before. It’s these turbo diesel engines often known as TDI, HDi, CDTi, CDI,depending on the manufacturer that are cornerstone of the car chipping industry because an engine chip or software upgrade can cheaply add so much to the performance.

Our Prices start at £199 for OBD tuning, and ECU bench tuning costs start at £275.

Are ther any downsides to getting your ECU “chipped”?

Some people are concerned that engine remapping could cause problems with their car. But it shouldn’t affect reliability if you use a reputable company such as Tuning Emporium.

Range Rover Sport 4.2 supercharged, pulley upgrade and remap

Had a great example of a Mark 1 Range Rover Sport 4.2 supercharged in for a remap recently.

Although we could have fitted it, the engine already had a 10%supercharger pulley upgrade on it.

Despite been such a heavy vehicle we knew that the engine could have more power extraced from it.

Standard power is 395bhp.

In tuned form it should now be 470bhp 🙂

BMW M3 F30 remapping at Tuning Emporium

One letter and one number always a very special vehicle from Germany, iconic M3.

The M3 version of the F30 3 series was designated the F80 and was produced from 2014—2018. The F80 M3 was powered by the BMW S55 twin-turbo straight-six engine, therefore being the first turbocharged M3 model. Despite the smaller displacement than the V8 engine used by the previous generation, peak power was increased by 8 kW (11 bhp) and peak torque was increased by 150 N⋅m (111 lb⋅ft).

The official 0–60 mph (0–97 km/h) times were 3.9 seconds with the M-DCT transmission and 4.1 seconds with the manual transmission. Top speed is limited to 155 mph (249 km/h) but an optional M Driver’s package raises this to 174 mph (280 km/h).

Here at Tuning Emporium, we’ve had to continuely invest in new equipment so we can keep up to date with new models that can be tuned, both through the OBD port and on the bench.

With this partiuclar car, the customer wanted a nice power increase but too mad, so we settled on a bespoke stage 1 remap through the OBD port.

Power gains as follows:

standard tune is 424bhp and 406lb ft.

we safely increased this to 495bhp and 485lb ft.

Any more than that and the turbo’s won’t last very long, hybrid upgrade the only solution here.

Transformation is stunning, the car is so much eager to get going, and gear changes are improved from the increased torque.
