Swirl flap delete at Tuning Emporium

Along with software deletes, another common issue we get asked to do, is swirl flap delete.

Most common models we do this for are:

BMW

Audi

Vauxhall

VW

VAG

Swirl flaps are small butterfly valves that are fitted to the intake manifold of many modern engines. Their purpose is to ensure that the air entering the cylinder is sufficiently turbulent for good fuel-air mixing even at low engine speeds.

The butterfly valves used in swirl flaps can become clogged with carbon deposits or seize due to wear and tear. By removing the swirl flaps, you eliminate the risk of failure, which can lead to costly repairs and potential engine damage

Benefits of removing swirl flaps:

Improved performance: Some drivers report that removing swirl flaps results in smoother engine operation and better throttle response.

Increased fuel efficiency: Swirl flap removal can improve fuel efficiency

Reduced maintenance costs: Removing swirl flaps can potentially reduce the long-term maintenance costs associated with repairs and replacements

Increased reliability: Swirl flaps are susceptible to wear and tear, and a failure can result in costly engine damage.

Here at Tuning Emporium, we have seen many vehicles suffer with this issue, and in some circumstances have seen fragments of the swirl flaps in the engine, when its been too late for the customer. Adding huge costs to their invoice.
