Peugeot Ad blue faults at Tuning Emporium

Another brand that is keeping us busy at Tuning Emporium is The Peugeot Citroen group.

We are seeing a significant increase in this brand with ad blue faults, causing customers vehicle to be off the road for considerable times, whilst its investigated.

AdBlue faults in vehicles, particularly those equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems, can cause various issues and usually require prompt attention to avoid more severe problems. AdBlue, a urea-based solution, helps reduce nitrogen oxide emissions from diesel engines. Here are some common AdBlue faults and their potential causes:

  1. AdBlue Low Warning:
    • Cause: The AdBlue tank is low on fluid.
    • Solution: Refill the AdBlue tank.
  2. AdBlue Quality Warning:
    • Cause: Contaminated AdBlue or incorrect concentration.
    • Solution: Drain the tank and refill with high-quality AdBlue from a trusted source.
  3. AdBlue Pump Failure:
    • Cause: Mechanical or electrical failure of the AdBlue pump.
    • Solution: Replace the AdBlue pump.
  4. AdBlue Injector Issues:
    • Cause: Blocked or malfunctioning injector.
    • Solution: Clean or replace the AdBlue injector.
  5. Sensor Faults:
    • Cause: Faulty NOx sensor, temperature sensor, or level sensor.
    • Solution: Diagnose with a scanner tool and replace the faulty sensor.
  6. Crystallization in the AdBlue System:
    • Cause: AdBlue can crystallize, causing blockages in the system.
    • Solution: Flush the system and clean or replace affected parts.
  7. SCR Catalyst Problems:
    • Cause: Faulty or degraded SCR catalyst.
    • Solution: Inspect and replace the SCR catalyst if necessary.
  8. Software or Calibration Issues:
    • Cause: ECU software bugs or incorrect calibration.
    • Solution: Update the vehicle’s software and calibrate the AdBlue system.
  9. Freezing of AdBlue:
    • Cause: AdBlue can freeze at low temperatures.
    • Solution: Ensure the vehicle’s heating elements in the AdBlue system are functioning properly to prevent freezing.

Tuning Emporium recommend all the above, however if the parts are not available or beyond economic repair, contact us at your earlies convenience to see how Tuning Emporium can help.
